Description

MX effectively just went down again. Load shot up to over 300 a couple hours ago, causing mail connections to be dropped and Apache to become next to useless.

Could still SSH in, and despite enormous load, CPU utilization was nearly zero. Couldn't see anything suspicious in the logs. Plenty of mail and https processes lying around, but machine too sluggish to effectively service blah restart them or even kill them.
