Bundler looks great, in that it offers a way out from the horrible pain of trying to keep Gem dependencies satisfied while "vendoring" gems for reliable deployments. Only today what should have been a simple operation — trying to update my vendor gems to the latest versions in readiness for Rails 3 — turned out to be another frustrating bashing-my-head-against-the-wall session. Only trouble is, bundle install is currently hanging indefinitely, so I can't use it.
